Billing and Credits

Bosun tracks billing at the organization level. Only members with the billing admin permission can access and manage billing settings. If you do not see the Billing screen in the app, contact an admin for access.

Pricing and plans are provided as given during the beta period and may change when Bosun reaches general availability.

Overview

Open Billing from the navigation sidebar to review your current balance and subscription. The overview shows:

  • Available credits and whether the balance is low or negative.
  • Active subscription status with the next renewal date.
  • Seat usage so you can confirm the quantity that will be billed.

Bosun deducts usage from the organization credit wallet. Usage details continue to be available on the Usage Metrics page.

Inline Credit Warnings

All collaborators now see real-time credit status inside projects. When a balance is low or depleted, Bosun highlights the issue on the project overview:

  • Billing admins get a Manage credits button that jumps straight to the Billing page so they can top up without hunting through navigation.
  • Other members see the same warning along with guidance to contact a billing admin. They can monitor balances but cannot modify payment details.

These inline helpers appear as soon as the platform detects an issue, even if the Billing page stays restricted to admins.

Subscription Plans and Trials

New subscriptions start with a 14-day trial period. During the trial you can use Bosun without being charged, but you still see usage and seat details so you know what to expect when the trial converts.

When the trial ends, the subscription automatically rolls over to a paid plan using the seat count that was selected. You can cancel the renewal at any time before the trial expires by choosing Cancel subscription from the Billing page.

Personal accounts do not require a subscription but can still purchase credits for additional usage.

Topping Up Credits

You can purchase additional credits at any time:

  1. Select the organization in the Billing view.
  2. Click Top up credits.
  3. Choose the quantity of credits and follow the Stripe checkout flow.

Bosun stores the Stripe checkout session for the organization so that in-progress payments resume safely if you refresh or switch devices.

Managing Subscriptions

Use the Manage subscription button to open the Stripe customer portal. From there you can update payment methods, download invoices, or cancel the plan. Seat counts sync automatically with GitHub organization membership—if you add or remove members, Bosun updates the subscription quantity on the next sync.

If you have multiple organizations, use the selector at the top of the Billing page to switch between them. Personal organizations do not require a subscription but can still purchase credits for additional usage.

Invoice History

The Billing page keeps a paginated list of invoices issued by Stripe. You can load newer or older invoices with the pagination controls. Each entry includes:

  • Invoice total and status.
  • Issue and due dates.
  • A download link hosted by Stripe.

Use this history to reconcile payments or retrieve receipts for your finance team.

Low Balance Handling

Bosun warns collaborators when an organization is low on credits and blocks new automated sessions when the balance is depleted. To continue running sessions:

  • Start or resume a subscription, and
  • Top up credits so the balance returns to a positive number.

Admins can always see the current credit balance directly from the Billing screen before launching new automation.
